An awning fabric gives an extremely
high level of protection from UV radiation.
This degree of protection depends on
the color of the fabric. Lighter colors
let more UV light through than dark
colors, but they remain as effective
as a factor 50 sunscreen (filtering
out more than 90% of UV radiation).
At noon on a sunny day, the brightness
of an area without shade can easily
reach 50 000 Lux. An awning fabric filters
the light and, depending on the colour,
generates a brightness value
between 1 000 and 5 000 Lux - which
is a pleasant and well-lit environment.
